Mindy's demonstration about blogging in the classroom to provide students with an authentic audience and make writing interactive was very informative. I had forgotten I had a kidblog account, but now want to try to integrate it into my writing instruction more often. The rubric and modeling with an analysis and practice is an excellent way to give students ownership and allow the teacher to work with other students during the blogging and feel comfortable that the students are doing the correct thing.
Debrief: In response to the question of what we have taken away from this experience, I think time is the biggest factor in implementation. It is important to find what is important to not negotiate losing time with and letting students be in the moment and feel a sense of purpose and urgency while writing.
